Pula Arena Summer Concerts
The Pula Arena isn’t just a monument — it’s one of the world’s most magical concert venues. Every summer, major international artists perform here, and the experience is unforgettable. Roman stonework, stars overhead, incredible acoustics, and you’re staying just 15 minutes away.

Why Arena Concerts Are Special
There’s nothing quite like hearing music bounce off 2,000-year-old stone walls under a starlit sky. The Arena holds about 5,000 for concerts — intimate by stadium standards but with world-class production. The acoustics are genuinely excellent.
Most shows start around 9 PM when the heat fades and the sky darkens. By the time the main act comes on, you’re watching a concert in an ancient amphitheatre lit up against the night.
My Tips
Buy tickets early. Popular shows sell out. Nick Cave sold out both nights within weeks. Check eventim.hr or the Arena website.
Seating vs. standing. Some shows have pit/standing areas, others are all-seated on the stone terraces. Seated means you get to lean back and take it all in.
Bring a cushion. The stone seats are authentic Roman — which means hard and cold. A small cushion or jacket to sit on helps.
Eat before, not during. Food options inside are limited. Have dinner in town, then head to the show.
Stay after. The walk out through the ancient tunnels, buzzing crowd around you, is part of the experience. Don’t rush.
Getting There
From the house: 15-minute drive to Pula, park outside the old town (Giardini or waterfront lots), 10-minute walk to the Arena.
After the show: You’ll be home and in bed while others are still queuing for taxis. This is the real advantage of staying nearby.
Where to Stay vs. Where You’re Staying
Hotels in Pula center charge premium rates during big concerts, and you’re fighting for restaurant reservations with everyone else.
From our house, you get:
- Peace and quiet before and after
- Your own kitchen (no fighting for dinner reservations)
- 15 minutes door-to-door
- A fraction of the price
Make a Night of It

- Afternoon: Explore Pula old town, light lunch
- 5 PM: Back to the house to freshen up
- 7 PM: Drive to Pula, park, stroll the waterfront
- 8 PM: Aperitivo near the Arena
- 9 PM: Show
- 11:30 PM: Home
