Windsurfing & Kitesurfing

If you’re into wind sports, you’ve picked a good spot. Ližnjan is known for reliable wind conditions, especially when the bora (northeast wind) blows. Kuje Bay is where the local surfers and kiters go.

Kuje Bay

This is the main spot. It’s a sheltered bay with a sandy bottom, which makes it safer for falls and great for learning. When the bora kicks in, you’ll see serious kiters doing big jumps here. Even if you don’t participate, it’s fun to watch.

Conditions

Best winds: Bora (NE) and Jugo (SE) — usually strongest in spring and autumn, but summer gets good days too.

Water: Shallow near shore, deeper further out. Sandy bottom.

Vibe: Local and relaxed. Not a big commercial scene.

Lessons & Rentals

There are instructors in the area who offer lessons. If you’re a beginner, don’t try to teach yourself — kitesurfing especially can be dangerous without proper training. Ask me and I can connect you with local schools.

Also Good For

SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) — when there’s no wind, Kuje and the nearby coastline are perfect for paddleboarding. Calm, clear water.

Bring Your Own Gear?

If you’re bringing equipment, there’s space at the house to store it. The beach is a 5-minute drive away.
